A website’s domain name is like the address of a house, while hosting is like the house itself. To make a website function properly, all of its data—including text, audio, video, and other digital content—must be stored on a hosting server. A website becomes accessible to visitors only after the domain name is connected to the hosting server.

Website (Domain Name) ကအိမ်တစ်အိမ်ရဲ့ လိပ်စာနဲ့တူပြီး Hosting က အိမ်နဲ့တူပြီး ဒီ Website ကိုရှင်သန်စေဘို့ Unlimited Data များ (Text, Audio, Video) စသည်တို့ကို Hosting Server ပေါ်တင်ရပါတယ်။ Hosting နဲ့ Domain ချိတ်တော့မှ Website ကိုမြင်ရတာပါ။

In addition, a webmaster should be proficient in computer programming languages and computer multimedia tools (such as Office applications, image editing, audio, and video tools). It is also important to understand web technologies such as PHP, HTML, Java, and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).

Computer Programming Languages တွေ၊ Computer Multimedia Tools (Office Tools, Images, Audio, Video) တွေကိုလည်း ကျွမ်းကျင်စွာ ကိုင်တွယ်နိုင်ရပါမယ်။ PHP, HTML, Java, CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) ကိုလည်းနားလည်ရပါမယ်။

Displaying the Billing Amounts

Now, let’s look at this year’s billing amounts. For the past 14 years, I have paid these fees annually. If the renewal fees are not paid, the website’s domain name may be deleted or expire.

Moreover, to make a website and all of its webpages accessible worldwide, it is necessary to purchase both a domain name and a hosting server.

Billing Amount ။ ။ ဒီနှစ်အတွက် Billing Amount တွေကိုကြည့်ပါ။ လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့ (၁၄) နှစ်လုံးနှစ်စဉ်ငွေသွင်းရပါတယ်။ ငွေမသွင်းရင် ကိုယ့် Website (Domain) ကို Delete လုပ်ခံရပါတယ်။ ဒီထဲမှာမှ Website တစ်ခုရဲ့ Webpage တွေကို တကမ္ဘာလုံးကမြင်တွေ့စေဘို့ Website (Domain Name) အပြင် Hosting Server ပါဝယ်ယူထားရပါတယ်။

This domain, historicalteaching.com, was intended for academic purposes. However, it was affected by a hacker attack, and I plan to reupload it.

Total: Approximately MMK 490,000 (over 490,000 kyats) for this year alone. These fees must also be paid every year in the future, and the amount may vary depending on the USD exchange rate.

Doesn’t this show you how high the costs of hosting and domain registration are?  I don’t want to accept any help because I can still afford it with my own resources.

I bought these domains and hosting 14 years ago, in 2012. Since then, I have been working alone without any support from anyone.

In fact, no university professor in the world would typically do such a thing—spending their own money on a website for years without any profit. I did it, perhaps foolishly, for the benefit of my students.
